Makita launches battery powered 18V chain saw with top handle, for professional use

The DUC254 is a battery-powered chain saw that is very light while having the same power as a similar saw with a gasoline engine. Battery operation makes the saw both quieter and more environmentally friendly than a petrol-driven chainsaw.

Highly effective cutting

The DUC254 is equipped with a brushless engine, which gives a high chain speed. Tests show that the DUC254 is 15% faster than gasoline models with a 22,2 mL engine. Maximum chain speed is 24 m/sec with saw chain 90px or 91px.

Equipped with Torque Boost mode

To more easily cut thick or hard branches, the DUC254 is equipped with Torque Boost mode, which, when activated, provides extra power to the chain saw. The Torque Boost mode is activated by the user pressing the power switch for a few seconds.

Makes up to 160 cuts with a fully charged battery

The DUC254 can handle up to 160 cuts in 50 mm x 50 mm wood when powered by a 5.0 Ah battery.

A chain saw that makes a better working environment

The DUC254 has a low weight of only 3.2 kg, which means that long-term work does not tire the user as fast as many other chain saws on the market. Battery operation also reduces noise levels compared to a petrol-driven chain saw, which also has positive affects the working environment. The lack of gasoline makes the DUC254 far more environmentally friendly than petrol-powered chain saws.
