Makita’s cordless DGA504 angle grinder is a powerful professional tool with a capacity similar to mains-powered tools. It uses 125 mm wheels, which are common in small angle grinders. The tool is equipped with a brushless motor, which brings several benefits: high capacity, low energy consumption, small size and durability.

The cutting speed is changed automatically according to load condition for optimum operation. Under heavy loads, the speed is reduced to a level that the electronics system can keep constant. In the event of overload, the tool switches off. The tool’s green LED indicator lights up when the automatic speed control switches on. The indicator light is red in the event of an overload and the machine needs to be restarted.

The tool has detachable dust guards that prevent any dust generated during work from entering the machine with the cooling air. The dust guards should be cleaned regularly to maximise air flow. Soft start and anti-restart functions improve safety. The soft start function minimises start-up shock and makes the tool start safely. The anti-restart function prevents accidental start-up when the lock-on switch is on and an empty battery has been replaced – the machine only starts once the switch has been released and the tool restarted.
